Hi Folks, I could use some help. I just got a Canon S2 IS, it takes a SD
card. I have never used a SD card before.

The question I have is, if I get a MMC card will it work in this camera.

The reason I ask is this. CanadaComputers has this MMC card thats rated at
133x (20MB/s +)

The fastest SD card available today (that I know off) is rated at 60x
(10MB/s read, 9MB/s write).

Here is the link to that Fast MMC card

As far as I am aware SD ( secure digital) and MMC ( multi media card) are a
totally diffent beast. They are not even the same physical size..

.... and in any case the S2 will not be any faster with a
133x card than it is with a 60x card... and probably a 45x
card. The camera hardware speed is the limiting factor here,
not the SD card.

You're a long way off base with that one. If you *really*
want a cutting edge SD card (you don't, believe me) and you
have deep pockets you could buy (say) a 4GB 133x SD card
like this one:

Buy I recommend you buy a nice fast, reliable Sandisk Ultra
instead, it's more than fast enough for your camera.

According to this review the slot accepts both:

http://tinyurl.com/bs2ds

MMC-cards will fit into SD card slots. SD-cards _won't_ fit into MMC card
slots because they're slightly thicker. I can use my MMC card from my phone
in my digital camera and PDA SD-slots without problems. The SD-cards I use
cannot however be fitted in the MMC-slot of my phone.

You can't transfer data faster than the slower of the camera/card
combination. VERY few cameras can keep up with even the 60x SD card.
If transfers to/from the computer via a card reader are important enough
to spend the extra money (faster is usually more expensive), or money is
no object, then go with the faster card. If economy is important, try
to match the speed of the card with the write speed of the camera
(cameras are usually the slower of the two).

WRONG, DEAD WRONG. The MMC card is thinner, but they are otherwise the
same, and all cameras I know of that use the SD card will also accept
the MMC card.
