Hey, a few weeks ago i build a new pc

i7 3770k @ 4,2 ghz
Corsair H100 liquid cooling
Asus sabertooth z77
G.Skill 16GB @ 2133mhz
Corsair 240GB Sata3 SSD
(500GB Random HDD i found at my home for storage)
Gainward Phantom GTX 680 4GB
XFX 1050W Black edition
Zalman Z11 Plus

But now, as planned i wanted to upgrade to SLI. But this GPU is just nowhere in stock. i've been waiting for 3 weeks now. Still no company got it.. while GTX 690's do come in, and some other GTX 680.

Should i wait for it to ever come available, or should i perhaps sell my GPU and buy a GTX 690? Or might it be possible to get another card, like Jetstream gtx 680 4GB when that card comes faster available?

I can still keep up some time with 1 GTX680, but i really want to upgrade within 1 month from now.

I know the GTX690 has 2 GK-104 chips, but they're underclocked etc. due to heat i guess.. so 2xGTX680 will perform better.. so i still prefer 2xGTX 680

But what do u mean with the last sentence, i don't really get it. Do u mean i can, or can't SLI with 2 different brands, but still the same chip, clocks and VRam amount?

currently which gtx 680 brand do you have?
i mean sli'ing with different brand can be possible but make sure of vram, clock speed, must be same.

I'm most likely not going to sell my GTX 680 for 2x670's. It's either 2x680's or 1x690.. I might try to sell it then, and buy 1 Gtx 690.. :/ although i still prefer 2x680.. Since's i already have 1 Gtx680 with 4gb vram..

@xtreme5
As i mentioned before, i currently have a "Gainward Phantom GTX 680 4GB"

+1

You are already at the top of the heap performance wise. Patience young padawan! Just wait it out. It beats spending a bunch of cash to get a different setup for just a few weeks (or even months) before the cards will be available again.

Besides, what exactly is two 680 4gbs going to get you above and beyond what you currently have, performance wise. Is it really going to be that noticeable that you must have it now.

Also, you can SLI cards with different clock speeds. You just need the same chipset. I have two doffierent brands and speeds running with 2 x 560tis and 2 x 260s. No bugs or issues whatsoever. So, if another brand pops up with 4gb then you can run with it as long as it is a 680.

:/ i do think after all i'm going to wait for another Gainward Phantom GTX680 4GB.. Since i can already play all games i want, only Metro 2033 not on max settings... Guild Wars isnt even out yet.. So i'll wait.. Just hope they will ever get in stock in my country.. and not just delete them from their supplies.. :/

What? Maxes everything out? You are only playing on 1920x1080? If so one 680 is plenty. You only need another 680 if you are :
Going to higher resolution
Going triple screen
Or going 3d or 120hz

If not any of those another 680 is a waste.
