I found this problem when playing diablo 3.

I have a 7850 and when I OC it over 1050 (the default OC limit) the game will randomly crash and also ill have lag spikes. If it is at 1050 or lower I get no problem.

I know my OC is stable because I also play BF3 and I never get any problem with an OC over 1050.

Anyone else can confirm this?

Thanks

Hi goombaxiv,

I have the same problem, D3's randomly crashing/freezing specially when there is a large mob spawning. Everything works fine if I just leave my GPU to stock, but when I OC my GPU that's where the problem starts.

This is what I did to solve the problem.
Check your AMD drivers first, if it is 12.4 uninstall it and use 12.3 drivers, I read from some random forums that D3 is not fully supporting 12.4 drivers at the moment.

As of now, I am playing D3 on my 7850 @ 1190/1475 with no issues at all.

I hope what I did can help you solve your problem as well.

Regards

Different game with different requirements.
Just because it is stable in one does not mean it's a stable overclock, just like how you can run windows on a OC'd cpu fine all day then as soon as you stress test it then you get a BSOD ;)
If it is working at lower settings in Diablo 3 then I would suggest just running it at those settings.

+1 no point in OCing that card for Diablo 3. It is like bringing a crotch rocket to a bicycle race.

Im aware that there is no point in OC the 7850. Even on stock if vsync is enabled the gpu is not 100% used.

Just wanted to see if others have the same problem.

Thanks for the reply
