The otherday my computer screen went grainy green and froze up. The Screen then went black and I was forced to shut it down via holding down the button. I tried to re-boot windows and I got a black screen and a beep just before it reached the log in screen. I am now in safemode. What had caused this to happen thanks.

Computer:

EVGA GTX 670
I7 2600K
16GB 1600Mhz RAM
120GB Kingston Hyper x SSD.

My arch enemy, I hate 0x00000116!

Anyway in my experience with this BSOD it was related to power, to be precise one of the pins in the 24 pin cable had burnt out and so wasn't supplying enough power, causing instability.
Apparently it can also be caused by a faulty graphics card.

I would start with some basic troubleshooting,

Make sure all connections/cables are secure and not damaged
Re-seat the graphics card
Re-install the nvidia driver
Remove any overclocks
Test the card in another machine if possible
Check load temps for CPU and GPU

Can I ask what power supply your using?

My PSU is a coolermaster 700 watt.

I opened up my computer and checked the connectors and found the 4 pin extention to the motherboard connector was half hanging out. I've pushed that in fully.

I've also reinstalled all drivers.

Thanks for the reply, hopefully the problem was the 4 pin connector not fully inserted.

No worries, hopefully that's all it was. :)
