Will a 4pin CPU Power Cord Work?

Hey guys, just had a quick question. Would it be alright to simply use a 4pin cpu power cord on a MB with an 8 pin slot for the time being? I plan picking up an extension asap, as the 8 pin cord I currently have on my PSU is a bit too short. I have an i5 2400, so OC is out of the question regardless.

I could run over to a Best Buy, but from what i've seen, they don't carry anything of the sort.

Yeah the 4 pin power supply is fine

Check your motherboard manual. Most times, they say that 4pin is OK unless you will be overclocking.
