Hey,

E8400
running at 3.6 Ghz idle 50c i dont think it gets over 70
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor BX80570E8400

I really think my cpu is slowing down my computer and I was thinking about upgrading to a quad core qx9650. This would pretty much max out my pc. Im hoping to try to get another 2 years out of it. Would I see a big increase from the e8400 to the qx9650. Im looking to play games on high settings. I had some problems getting the mobo to take 16gb of ram but it does and ive run ram tests and it is stable the proc and ram run at an unlinked FSB. I am having problems running arkham city with good frame rates. I will adjust the graphics and it doesn't really improve frame rates. I have looked at benchmarks and they say the gtx570 should be performing much better. any help would be appreciated.

The problem is your CPU, it was a great CPU.... In 2008... Its 2012...

16GB of RAM is overkill for gaming, but you're got it.. So.. keep it.

In the meantime, consider upgrading to a more modern CPU and motherboard to properly compliment your GTX 570. I know thats probably not what you were looking to hear, and for that I'm sorry.
