Deleted files privacy

Hello,
My question is this... a friend is fixing my external hardrive, but first he's going to transfer all my files to his laptop, while he fixes it. Then he's going to put my files back. Will old deleted files get tranfered to his laptop in anyway?

wouldnt think so

but he could use software to look at deleted files on your external hard drive if he wanted to

got something you have deleted you dont want him looking at ?
