I need help deciding on which PSU to get with a graphics card

I am getting a Gigabyte Radeon HD 7850 2048MB PCIe x16 Gen 3.0 and need to know what PSU will run the graphics card the best. The card link is:

If you can suggest any other cards that would be better than this for a price around it, I would enjoy your feedback.

  1. Well what is your PSU budget ?

Also you could consider Asus over gigabyte.

    7850 Need 130W so a good 550 W will do good.

Lets say XFX Pro Core 550W or Corsair Tx 650 V2 being on rebate on newegg.

Both are great and by seasonic.

    Good luck !

I forgot to tell you my computer's model info. It is a HP Pavilion p7-1054 and I am trying to get it to run skyrim very well. Should I just buy a whole new gaming computer or just buy upgrades?
  3. Well that procesor will hold you back somehow. So i suggest getting a new rig.

If u can tell me budget i can make you one :)
  4. How will the processer hold me back?
I guess in the 700's but i would want to know what all you would put in it and could build it in my area.
  5. Well that GPU is powerful and to see its 100% u need a decent CPU.And that CPU that you have its not good.

    I suggest a I3 3220 + B75/Z77 mobo (Z77 if u decide to get I5 K series )

    8Gb Ram 1600Mhz.And a PSU Xfx 550W /650W
  6. I will look at all this stuff. Could you post the links of these?
  7. Well where are you from ? Any prefered site ?
  8. No preffered sight, SC
  9. Well here it is

You can remove anything you want .Just tell me if u need anything else. I left Case empty cuz its ur personal preference.

If you already have a Hdd you can get a 7870.

Respond to this : Do you intend to use I5 ? now or later ?

If NO i can choose a cheaper mobo.
  10. well I am not sure what is the difference between i3, i5, and i7. I would probably want a cheaper power supply
  11. Well on gaming I3 will do great. I was asking about I5 o I7 k series cuz the can oc and in order to oc u need Z77/p67/Z 68 mobo
  12. OverClock ! The k series can increase multiplier and so increase the clock. This means better performance and future proof
  13. wait so what is the difference between i3, i5, and i7. Also can I just use my current computer and change out the Processor and the power supply and add graphics card?
  14. Well I3 has a locked multiplier so no OC. I5 and I7 K series can OC.

The PSU its HP one so you dont need a bad PSU.

I suggest to get I3 now and later in future get I5 . Or get I5 now if u have the money.

And never go cheap on PSU. Its the most important part of it.

So recheck the build i posted that is great.

Also you can use the HDD from your current pc and save money.

Choose a case and buy what i linked.

  15. no I mean get the processor (i3) then graphics card and power supply, and then stick it in my current PC
  16. Well yes it will. But add a bit more $ and get the 3570K.

You have AMD mobo you cant install intel on it.

So you can just use the HDD 1Tb that you have in you HP.
  17. Wait you cant use intel on amd mobo?
  18. and what else can i scavenge from my current pc.

do i have to install windows 7 to the new build though?
  19. Yes you need to install it !

And NO you cant use intel on amd mobos.

    So Win 7 64Bit is 100 $ i think . And

You can get the HDD and 6GB ram. Buy 2 more and make it 8 gb :)

    Thats all
  20. I am probably gonna end up with 14gbs and can i use my cd drive
  21. Also could I put a AMD FX in my computer instead?
  22. No .14gb no.

8Gb or 16Gb dual channel. FX are crap compared to Intel on gaming.

Take the one i linked to you. Build it somewhere or by yourself. Its not hard
  23. okay i will try...
  24. So intel are best gaming computers?
  25. Yes they are :) Even intel low end can compete with AMD.

And with I5 non of AMD cpu can match it :)

If you get i5 you wont be dissapointed !
  26. I just purchased the EVGA NEX750 and its a sexy little psu. love the powder coat finish, fully modular, 80 plus gold and a sweet 5 year warranty. Plus it SLI/Crossfire Ready and has a ton of nicely threaded cables that come with it.
  27. How is the alienware X51?
