Patch Bugs...

I've noticed something since the patch, sometimes either I or the mob I
attack will switch to "walk" mode for a short time. This has happened (to my
toon) just after I have killed a mob, and to a couple of humanoid mobs when
they "attempt to runaway".

Quite strange. Has anyone experienced any "new" bugs?

cheers,
Stu.

I don't think that's a bug. It's just the new way they've chosen to
show that you're stunned instead of just moving in slow motion like
before the patch.

Darn, I just read about this TODAY and I can't remember where I saw it
now, but the other poster is correct- the behavior you mentioned was
intentionally included in the 1.5.0 patch. The wording was indeed
confusing- it said players and mobs now use the walk animation instead
of a slow run when stunned... like you said, 'stun' usually means
there's no movement at all. I imagine they're really talking about
effects that slow movement rather than stop you completely.

Where is that frigging link?

Unsure if it is related to the patch but last night I saw something new,
extreme ghosting (hard to explain). Wife & I playing & I was supposed to
lead her back to town, her following me, but glancing back I did not see
her. I asked her why she is not with me, she replied, "you haven't moved".
I looked at her PC & there I was standing back with her. I was a good 30
secs away on my PC. So she says "never mind I can find my way". I
continue on & another 1-2 mins later I am being attacked by a spider.
Unfortunately all I could see was the attacks scrolling by in the combat
window & my health dropping, no spider. After I was dead my corpse was not
where I (my PC, the client) died, it was back where I originally was
standing (where my wife was waiting to follow me).

All the while I was showing a latency of 40-50, which is quite low for me.
Since starting WoW we have actually seen surprisingly little "ghosting" &
only when those times the server is lagged to hell & everyone's latency is
in the red. I hope this extreme ghosting was a rare occurrence & not a new
bug. Anyone else experience this with the patch or any other time?

Man, now that you mention it, that happened to me like 3 or 4 times
last night, and I don't recall it ever before. I'd be wanting to sit
down and eat/drink but it wouldn't let me (my portrait was still
blinking combat red)- so I'd look around to see if a new mob had just
attacked me. Nope, and I wasn't taking any damage. It just kept
saying I was in combat. This was in Duskwood. Also, I've got all
add-ons disabled because I'm waiting for the ones I use to be updated.

I experienced something like that *before* the patch. I was being
attacked by something, but I couldn't see it. I ran back to the road and
out of its aggro area before dying.

That have happened to me a lot prior the patch upgrade though it only
happened to my main toon, NE Warrior, during or after combat.

1) So many a time after killing a mob and ready to charge another. The
server said that I'm out of range even though my Charge skill is light
up. I can run right up to it and it still say I'm out of range.

2) Fighting a mob when another mob joined in, after I finished the
first one and turned to face another. The server kept tell me I faced
the wrong way. No matter how I move a bit, turn a bit, or even run
away, I'm still faced the wrong way and died. I have to corpse run back
to the original spot where I first encountered the first mob.

3) When I run past a group of mob and carefully avoid drawing their
aggro, I somehow draw one of them. I turned and looked, I don't see mob
within striking distance, yet my health bar keep going down.

I also have experienced the bug that Bruin had described, once or twice
prior to the patch upgrade. Though it didn't happen to my NE Warrior,
it was my orc warrior at echo island that experienced it.

I encountered a different type of bug before patch at WC. After I/we
killed mobs, everyone else is back to normal mode (i.e. hp/manna start
recover), my Undead Warrior is still in combat mode. It won't let me
eat and sit down to rest do not gain back my hp.

After I died from lack of heal from 2 - 3 encounter and did a corpse
run, it set back to normal. But as soon as I entered and finished a
fight, I'm in perpetual combat mode. And this only happened at WC and
no where else.

I experienced this earlier in the week, I assumed it had a lot to do
with a large raid going on at the same time (on the same continent,
different zone), perhaps this is the main culprit and the net code that
goes with it.

This is not new, and it's annoying as hell that it hasn't been fixed
yet. Happens to my wife and I about twice a month. Re-logging fixes
it, but you can sometimes get killed figuring out what the problem is.
Also, it is not related to latency in our experience. We're almost
always below 300ms and 150ms is the norm.

I encountered a strange bug twice last night. I was helping a gnome
warrior in Uldaman with my hunter. I set my Hunters Mark on some mob
and fired a sting at it. Both the Mark and the sting ended up on me,
not the mob. Nice taking damage from your own serpent sting.

I've also noticed a higher rate of bugged mobs, which means they're
standing around, usually stuck in a piece of landscape, and you keep
hitting them and doing no damage and they don't respond at all.
Sometimes, you'll see the "EVADE" over their head, sometimes not.

I'm still not impressed with the BCMs ability to test patches before
implementation.

CT Mod was rolled out on patch day, so that's available. I'm still
using CastParty 1.11 without any problems at all. I never upgraded that
because of problems with setup that other guildies have reported. If it
ain't broke, I ain't fixin' it.

You cannot move at all when stunned, stun is also accompanied by a graphic
above the head. Any other slowdown or other physical effects are shown as a
debuff on the mob or toon. This did not occur in my 3 incidants.

We had the same on doomhammer. I did WC with a pick-up group again. We
cleared the place tottaly, but encountered the same problems like you. also
enemy's schooting trough walls, sunken in the ground enemy's , invisible
enemy's. And the naralex thing (for those who knows it), the slimy things
stay in the water now and u have to fetch them yourself and by doing so they
teleport to the diciple. go figure.

The server was very laggy for me last night (Twilight's Hammer), no
extreme lag spikes like you experienced but certainly noticeable poor
performance, even though the client latency was fine.

I had exactly the same thing last weekend, so I don't think that was
due to the patch.
Suddenly finding yourself being beaten on by 4 elite slimes while just
standing there minding your own business is amusing. Good job I was
farming greens with my L41 shaman or it could have ended badly for an
appropriate level group.

DAMN, that was our first experiance with that bug, now I see that it was not
a result of the patch. Meaning it ain't gonna get fixed soon. =/

Yesterday in Zul Farrak, the patrols (2 trolls and a basilisk) respawned too
fast. That means, about 10 -15 minutes after we killed a patrol, they just
stood up where there bodies were lying and started to patrol. Made us wipe
twice (after Tartalin lagged out, we were only 4 people from 45-51, so it
was a bit hard to handle 6 level 47+ elites).

And you have to kill two particular ones as part of a quest. :-/

Oddly enough, that's near where I was beat on by the invisible mob. I
wonder if there's a connection.

Yes! I believe there are actually two 'invisible' mobs there. If you
start out at the top of the path that leads south to the (silverwind?)
refuge, and turn left just at the bottom of the hill, there's usually a
furbolg inside the hillside, right behind a boulder. You can select
and engage him, but you never see him.

Also, continuing further south on the same path, I ALWAYS get attacked
by another invisible furbolg- I'm assuming he's underground, because
there are no trees/boulders nearby. I've never been able to kill him,
but he's never killed me either.

Agreed... The auto-firing feature is great for convenience and dps, but
I think they rushed out this change without adequately testing it.
Movement will interrupt the auto-fire, and hitting another spell (or
drinking a potion!) should do the same.

I've been killed a couple times now by my wand -- the fight goes badly
all of a sudden and I start spamming the drink potion icon, but the wand
firing doesn't allow it, and will never allow it until the wand is
specifically turned off. So, movement interrupts the wand, while
drinking a health potion (arguably a far more desperate action than
movement) does not. I'm sure they'll fix this in a future patch... it's
much too unfriendly the way it works now.

Agree, eventhough I haven't been killed by it yet, my warrior mate did
because I was too slow to realize what was wrong, and then I got
silenced, so I lost my chance healing him in due time :-/

I thought the same thing, but then I thought that if Leroy were that
dumb, he'd probably come racing back *out* of the room again dragging a
dozen or more mobs with him. But no, I wouldn't have followed him in
there. I would have let him die and stick to the plan.
