I want to use the i5-3570k because I don't want to add a video card right now due to price. I already and an HDD and optical drives. Budget for this PC will be $500. Well, I gave it my best effort, but I can't wholeheartedly suggest any combination of components that satisfies your budget. The Intel i5-3570k is just too expensive to put in a budget computer, and frankly unnecessary if you want to build a budget PC.

I would either suggest save your money for an increased budget, or use the less powerful CPU. Considering you won't have a GPU in the computer, you won't notice any of the features of the CPU because it is not being pushed.

If you could settle for an i3 or a pentium, I would build you a very capable system, I just don't want to suggest parts that would fail on you!

Well what games are you looking to play? Most games require at least some sort of graphics card. I have integrated graphics with an AMD phenom II and the only game I can play is Minecraft. But even then the FPS is so low.

Also, just because the i3 and the pentium are dual cores, it doesnt mean they perform any less. It's a common misconception (one that AMD plays into), but cores DOES NOT EQUAL power. Not in the least but. The i3 dual core competes with the AMD FX-6100 which is a hexa-core. It's all about the processing power, something that intel has a solid grip on.

But if you are looking to use only integrated graphics, the AMD FX series have great APU's in them.

As an alternative, if you save just 100 dollars more you could open up thousands of games that integrated graphics can't play! It seems like alot, but every day playing on my HTPC is frustrating because I have to deal with lag ALL THE TIME! It's in your best interest to buy some sort of discrete graphics card if you want to play games.

I'd go with

A CPU-MOBO bundle like this http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=849390&csid=_22
See you just got a Mobo and Cpu for the price of a 3570k

Some fast RAM like this http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1412139&CatId=4534
This is clocked at 1600Mhz which is nice and fast, plus it's dual channel for a boost!

A slick graphics card like this: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1149005&csid=_61
This has 1GB of VRAM which is plenty to play tons of games at average FPS, plus you get three free games!

An average power supply with plenty of power http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3276567&Sku=ULT-LSP750
I am usually hesitent to suggest no name PSU's but this has amazing reviews

And a sweet case with fans!http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=719396&Sku=A107-3042

Put it all together and you get around $480 dollars after rebates!

You can substitute any of those parts for better known brands, I just threw it together real quick!
