Hi,

Just wanted to ask what GPU to buy that's compatible with Core2Duo. I've read somewhere that if a gpu is too fast for the proc you'll have some "choke points" while playing (fps is fine then stutters for 1-2s). This is for my friend who wants to play Diablo III but doesn't want to spend much on upgrading..Thanks

"choke points" or bottleneck... Do not worry about this. A better GPU can only improve your gaming experience.

What is your friend's current GPU & what is the number of that Core2Duo?
It will also help if you tell us the monitor resolution your friend is playing at & his Power Supply brand & model.

here's the recommended

Recommended System Requirements

windows xp / Windows® Vista/7 (latest service packs)

Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
or AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 5600+ 2.8 GHz

2 GB RAM

[strike]NVIDIA® GeForce® 260[/strike] or ATI Radeon™ HD 4870 or better

so basically you would need to change GPU.

You can get a geforce 550 series for about 100 - 130 $ and it would work good, but if you think you will change computer soon you could get something better.

You shouln't be affected by bottleneck

You can go at

and check what kind of performance you should expect for diablo 3 with you current settings
