hi all.

im wondering if anyone could help. i have a file server upstairs in the spare bedroom it stores my movies and other documant on it.currently it is conected to my network and if i want to watch and films from it i have to switch on my desktop pc which is connected to my big tv in the living room. is there anyway of making a direct conection through LAN from my server to my big screen tv in order to watch the films?

Share out the folder with the movies on the server, map a drive to it on the PC connected to the TV, play movies that way. You can also use VLC Media player to stream movies from the server, or setup a Media Center connection between the computers, or use MyMovies database to setup a Media Center plug-in that will index the shared drive.
