I am having a computer bought in 2006. Its configuration are pretty old:

Intel Pentium E2140 Dual Core Processor 1.60 GHz

RAM - 512 MB

Motherboard - ASUS P5GZ-MX

80 GB Hard disk

windows xp sp 2 .

Pls provide me the best way to upgrade my computer by changing some components(Will increasing RAM to 2 or 1GB help)?

Its damn slow right now to use the computer. Pls help....

You'll need a new windows coa if it's made by dell, hp, etc. Listing a vender would help, but mine is newegg, so here goes:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007627%2050001402&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=20 (sandy bridge cpus only, no bios update available for ivy)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157335 (no hdmi port; ivy bridge support without a bios flash)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116408
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233335

If you can't afford new stuff, please list a firm budget and link a vender for better advice.

The only components you can re-use in your old PC are the Case and PSU and the Monitor. Well it depent on how much is your budget, if you go Intel platform, you may spend al least $600.00 and for AMD, you may spend at least $400.00 minimum
