Hmmm.. i'd rather go for a Radeon 7870. I don't like them much my self but i think they have a little better performance and better value than a GTX 570. Try to get ASUS DirectCUII edition.

The 7850 can overclock to the performance of a GTX 580, just push the voltage a little as it is possible now with guides out there. The 7870 can reach up to 7950 stock performance with overclocks now. The 650w allows for future CF if you want to.

The 7870 is great as well :)  the 570 can be overclocked to match a 580 but i think your right the 7870 is a bit better performance

Oh well for a gaming rig sub $900 can nab u a HD 7970 based config and almost all HD 7970 can be a GHZ edition apparently either via BIOS flash or clocking hehe
