Oh well for a gaming rig sub $900 can nab u a HD 7970 based config and almost all HD 7970 can be a GHZ edition apparently either via BIOS flash or clocking hehe

Hmmm.. i'd rather go for a Radeon 7870. I don't like them much my self but i think they have a little better performance and better value than a GTX 570. Try to get ASUS DirectCUII edition.
 
The 7870 is great as well :) the 570 can be overclocked to match a 580 but i think your right the 7870 is a bit better performance
