Need Help Upgrading Pc

Hey Guys,

First things first im new to toms hardare so i'm sorry if i've put this thread in the wrong part of the forums.

I have a Compaq Sg3-350uk and need help to find which motherboard would be the best to upgrade to, currently the motherboard doesn't support and pci-e 2.0 slot which i would need for a new graphics card.

I think i shoud upgrade the proccesor aswell from the AMD Athlon II X2 245 to a new AMD Quad Core ( either the FX 4100 or the Phenom Quad core, advice on that aswell please).

Also would it be worth getting a i3 and a motherboard?

Im pretty set on getting a Nvidia GTX 570 for the graphics card.

Any other help would be great!

Thanks in advanced!

More about need upgrading
  1. whats your budget for this upgrade?

also a HD 7850 pretty much trades blow for blow with a 570, while using half the power
  2. my budget is around £110 for the MotherBoard
    £100 for the cpu
£30 For the cpu cooler thinking the evo212+
    £180 for the graphics cards
soo Around 410 but can be a bit more
  3. did you want to change/upgrade your RAM? and I assume any balance of CPU/Mobo around 200-220 is fine?

Nah my 4gb RAm is enough for now upgrade to 8gb later this year and 250 for the heatsink aswell
  5. i would like this cheap as possible and is going to a i3 + a Z77 mobo a good route to take if im thinking of upgrading to a i5 3570k later on?

haent really looked at amd graphics cards.. and i think i will need a psu upgrade aswell... (i think the current psu is like 200w LOL)

thank for your advice and help
