Hey guys, after a month long addiction of finding computer parts I have finally finished. I have also realized its alot more fun researching and building then using the final product :na:. I want to see if I did alright because going into this I knew nothing about building computers!

Old System:

Case: Voyager 1 Fan Case
Motherboard: ASUS M85-Evo Board
Processor: Phenom II 945 @ 3.4
Cooler: Stock AMD Cooler
Graphics: GTS 250
Memory: 4x2gb Of Adata/OCZ Memory
PSU: Orion Generic 585w Low Budget PSU
HDD: 500gb WD

New System:

Case: NZXT M59 ($49.99) + 3 Additional Fans for Airflow
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ($84.99)
Processor: i5-2500k @ 4.4ghz ($159.99)
Cooler: Coolmaster Hyper 212+ ($19.99)
Graphics: EVGA GTX 480 ($159.99)
Memory: 2x4gb G.Skill Sniper Series 2133mhz PC-1600 (49.99)
PSU: Antec Green Power 650w Earth Watts ($69.99)
HDD: 500gb WD

Accessories: 23" Syncmaster 1920x1080, Razer Naga, Razer Lycosa, Turtle Beach X12s

I took a while and shopped around to get the best prices, and That I know I did extremely well because between the Case/CPU/GPU/Mobo I saved well over $200.

So Is there anything left to upgrade, and How did I do in terms of picking new parts, any feedback would be great cause Im new to this stuff!

Lastly, Im looking for new games to play. I at the moment only play MMOGs and would like to play some new ones. I like Shooting games, and anything that has a high replay value.

Holy crap, you got a GTX 480 for 160 bucks?! Yeah, i'd say that's a good deal. nice OC too btw. how hot is the 480 running? And here's a good game, Crusader Kings II. I got it for $10 the other day on Amazon. It's a strategy game, and while it's really friggin hard to figure out at first, once you get it, it's pretty cool. Very good time waster. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is another favorite of mine, although it's not exactly new.

The GTX 480 At load I have not seen it go past 72-73C usually is chilling in the 60-65C when idling. And about the price I took a stab at an open box item on newegg and it was sooo cheap I had to just try cause I had 30 days to return, ended up being brand new with all the stickers on it and everything in box untouched. I was amazed.

And Alright Ill check it out, I heard steam is a good way to go for games... yes/no?

Letting go of the AMD was hard...Ive been AMD>Intel every Since I knew a little about
computers :(

Well, I will tell you that the 945s were not as good 965-980 models. 945s are locked multipliers , with lower clock rates. You could have upgraded to the 965 and upped it to 4.0GHZ, but as much of a performance bump as that would have been, its not going to do what a 2500K can do sadly.

Mhm thats all the stuff I considered, even looked at the 4170, but it looks like with the new piledriver models coming its only going to be 10% when theres a alot more of a difference between the AMDs and Intels designs at the moment, so I didn't want to keep the AMD setup
