will an Asus P8Z77-V motherboard and a Intel Core i3 3.3 GHz Processor go together for a start ?

So long as you are referring to a Socket 1155 Processor. There is a Socket 1156 Intel Core i3 3.3Ghz Processor that IS NOT compatible.
