I've just upgraded to XP Home SP2 and have set things up pretty much as I
want (including installing and using Tweak UI). However, when I type a word
in the IE address bar and select Return instead of coming up with Microsoft
search results I simply get "Page cannot be displayed". I'm sure it's finger
trouble at this end, but for the life of me I can't see what I've deselected
(or not selected) in Internet Options / Tweak UI.

TIA

Open IE, click tools, options, advanced tab, scroll down... Do you have it
set to do not search from the address bar?

Hi Galen

No - I haven't - and I have tried the other options, with no success.

Well... Head back into TweakUI. Click Internet Explore to expand it, look in
the Search tab, do you have anything listed in there? If not then it should
be something like http://search.msn.com IIRC though you could easily put
another search engine in there. I'm not too familiar with the application, I
have a paid copy of XSP so I'm sure it's a bit different but the principle
should be the same. Someone in here must use it and will talk you through it
probably.

TweakUI | Internet Explorer | Include path search in address bar

Include path search in address bar
This allows to search the operating system and registered applications
when you type a string into the Address bar. This is a per-user setting
and Internet Explorer must be restarted for this setting to take effect.

NOTE
Searching from the address bar doesn't work properly with the original
Windows XP RTM (Release to Manufacturing) bits. You must update the
operating system using Windows Update or with the latest service pack
from Microsoft.

Thanks Wes

I have checked that Tweak UI and IE parameters are set correctly, and I have
rebooted. I have XP Home SP2, with all available updates.

Thanks again.

And...? It works? Or it doesn't work?

Give us a hint here, Adam. :-)
