PSU DOA? or am i just stupid

So this is my first build and I just (20 minutes ago) received my SeaSonic M12ii PSU. I took it out of the box and plugged it in and flicked the switch but the fan didn't spin. Does that mean that it's DOA? Or does the 24 pin plug-in have to be connected to the mobo for the fan to kick in?

Any information would be much appreciated

yes needs to be connected to the motherboard before powering on. and yes you are stupid for doing it that way

Well plug it in first lol.

Than try to switch it on.

CPU pin/Mobo pin /HDD /Gpu if u need .

Than switch it on and press the switch on the pc

24pin + aux 12v normally 4 or 8 pin beside the cpu socket

also - On some Seasonic PSU's the fan won't run unless it's actually needed, so don't be alarmed.
