Compaq SR5250nx powers up but hard drive and bios do not load

Compaq Presario SR5250NX powers up however bios, HD and screen do not seem to be getting power. They
don't even come on. If you restart 3, 4 or 10 times it mey come on until next reboot.

The symptoms sound like maybe some busted capacitors on the motherboard. Did the computer slowly get more finicky about booting over time? Look on the motherboard for bulging caps, brownish stains on top or bottom of the capacitors, or even a whiteish color on their tops. There are several things that could be the culprit, but based on your description that's what i'd look at first, especially since the motherboard came in a pre-built computer (which usually means not so great motherboard quality).
