I am really interested in the IPS panels that are being sold in Korea. I was wondering if my PC could take advantage of an IPS monitor at 2560x1440. I usually play all my games on high settings not that I cant run ultra its just the difference in quality is negligible compared too the frame rate drop.

My setup
i7 950
6 gigs ddr3 1600
2 gtx570's in sli

Like I said I dont care about running on ultra i prefer high settings its the resolution that really matters to me.

Hello,

Hmm yes your setup should be able to run that resolution no problem.

One thing to note - I believe IPS panels look great but I think they have a minor ghosting issue depending on the panel type.

What is the VRAM amount on the 570? 1.25GB or 2.5?
The 2.5 will not have a problem with that resolution.

Yeah I've heard of the ghosting issue. I have read a lot of reviews and most of the owners have said they don't notice ghosting at all or very little. IMO the positives that come with an IPS panel outweigh some minor ghosting that comes with it. Thanks for the reply.

well considering that 2560x1440 has roughly 77% more pixels i would expect around 40 fps in bf3 assuming you are at 1080p right now....

I have just one EVGA GTX570 2.5GB that outputs to a 2560x1600 30" IPS Samsung with no problem.
