All my games are crashing

All my games from games like PES 12 to even smaller game like Dungeon keeper 2 are crashing just after the main menu appears. the screen freezes and pc gets hanged.I have to restart to run pC again. GPU is updated so are directx and .NET Framework. but nothing works. I even formatted my PC but the problem still remains. please help me.

AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual core 4000+
2.11 GHz,2 GB RAM.
NVIDIA GEFORCE 9500GT 1GB

i would run memtest to see if your ram is fine. if it passes i would try a gpu burn in program to see if it the gpu.

but could be a defective gpu since it's getting older.

what temps on the gpu when you run games ?

i used kombuster for gpu burn. min temp 64 c , max 73 c...
my gpu is just 1 year old
