Everytime i get 3 seconds into an AVI file and it freezes

Hello, I am in need of some assistance. I recorded a video on my camera. When i play the video it gets 3 seconds in and locks up my whole computer. Everything freezes up. It has done it everytime except for the very first time i opened it on my computer. However, when i open it and skip to about 10 seconds in it does fine. When i bring it over to my video editing program it also freezes up. It is kindve an important video file and i am trying my best not to just delete it.

How are you attempting to transfer it from the camera/camcorder to the pc?
