LAN not working n Ethernet Switch (for my PC Only)

hi,
In our hostel we have laid down LAN for e-gaming and have ethernet switches, no server !, each computer is assigned ip like 1.1.1.x etc (no DHCP server) .. the problem is that my pc's lan work with dsl modems and in PC to PC lan connection (with no switches in between), BUT it is not working when i connect my PC to Network with ethernet switch ! (no ping), plus the LAN for other pc's is working quite fine in the same situation. Also i have checked by installing a PCI LAN Card but the problem persists. Any Solution to this problem ? ?

Can setting up a DHCP server solve this problem ?
Can a DSL modem (DHCP ENABLED) solve this problem ?
The motherboard is Intel 865 and same problem is occuring to another pc with the same brand . SO
Should i replace MOBO with intel 915 or else ?

Any suggestion will be appreciated

You need to diagram the layout here. Aside from checking to make sure all of the network settings are correct, did you try different ports on the switch? Using just a DSL modem won't work here for DHCP you need a Router connected to the modem. Make sure you are not using the uplink port if there is one on the switch.

The "same" lan wire is working on a different pc..

If a PC works on the same cable, and you tried a new lan card, if all the settings were double and tripple checked in TCP/IP, you may want to re-install Windows, or maybe reset the stack. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357
