really hoping i don't have to format my drive since it will cost me a lot of cash to d/l all the appropriate drivers to get my system up and running again.

I use pay as you go dongle.

The latest d/l from microsoft was the nvidia driver. Haven't touched the registry or used the ccleaner (used crap cleaner today).

Its a new card, i had a cd sent with it that gave me a vga driver but not anything else.

I checked on the device manager and checked display tab it said "unknown device (vga compatible)" when i open it up it said no driver installed.

no problems. The BIOS description tells you the errors the update is fixing, not those that can be created. However, there is an inherent risk in updating BIOS on motherboards. I've never personally had issues with it, but i have heard of them. The only reason i recommend a BIOS update here is because it seems like you are having compatibility issues, which might be solved by BIOS updates. The other option i can think of is to reinstall windows to see if it is a corrupt windows file. Maybe i'm missing something obvious, though.

I got a free day and managed to convince a friend to use their broadband. Is it as simple as visiting them and sticking the ethernet cable into my network card or will i need additional stuff to make this work. My friend is using Vista connected to modem broadband with a wired hub. But this shouldn't matter since i will be disconnecting his with mine. My system is the ultimate version of win 7 32bit

Thought id do a complete reformat as there is an issue with getting any of the office applications working on my system anyways and i was just delaying having to arse about with this.

Wasn't the case for me had to use my wireless to connect as the ports were not showing (must have been doing something wrong)

However re-installed win 7 and the graphic card is finally patched up.

Thanks for sticking with this thread Kelthic usually when im desperate for help and post on forums the answers come few and far between.

Registry cleaner isn't very good but, it depends on which program you use

i asked because i was attempting to determine if the OP may have deleted something he needed, not because i was recommending using one... At any rate the reinstall of windows fixed the op's problem.
