How to change win 7 from private to public network

I have an existing network with several computers running Vista and XP. My new computer has Windows7. The WIN 7 computer can access the router and the internet. But it is invisible to the rest of the network. It is currently set up as "private network". I think it should be "public network". How / where can I change it ?

it should be set as either Home or Work Network

go to the Network and Sharing Center

under View your active Networks it should either say Home Network or Work Network

on the left hand column you should see 'Change advanced sharing settings' click on it

make sure the first two options are turned on
