helo, right well, i'v just got my mate a new rig. and it takes around 3-4mins to load windows up? can anyone help me , im using a P4 3.4ghz HT, 1GB ram , 160Gb hdd , ect.

go to device manager and makesure you have no yellow exclamatin marks.
Make sure everything installed (video,audio)
if you have a sound card make sure your on board sound is disabled
newest drivers?

If it makes you feel any better i timed mine....and it takes a long time too.
I think out of 5 times the slowest was 38seconds

probably something silly like floppy cable is on backwards or something, disconnect anything non-essential and default the bios

is it windows that is slow to load or the motherboard booting up that is slow? i.e. how long does it take for the first windows logo to come up?
