Hey you guys,

I just wanted to ask if the combo of an i5 3470 and a HD 6970 MSI Lightning is future-proof?

How long would this combo be able to play games at high settings (not ultra)?
In what number of years?

Thanks in advance!

Greetz,
Littlebro.

And when I would switch from a HD 6970 Lightning 2GB to a Sapphire HD 7850 2GB? What is the most future-proof option?

No I don't. But the thing is: the 6970 only costs 190 euros, and the 7850 200 euros. I'm really not good at deciding what's the best bang for my buck.

Alright! Thanks for your opinion.

D*mn, I just noticed that the 6970 MSI Lightning I'm talking about has a base clock speed of 940 Mhz. Isn't that significantly faster than the normal 7850? And I read somewhere that the 7850 is good for OC'ing, but wouldn't that shorten the lifespan of the GPU by a fair amount?

And is OC'ing not too difficult (or even dangerous) for an unexperienced person like me (when it comes to OC'ing).

Thanks for your help btw :)  . I really appreciate it.
