I have a new HP desktop with to monitor connections: one VGA and one DVI. I have a monitor connected to each output (same brand/model). Monitor two is very, very slow to respond to keyboard and mouse inputs. Do i need to get a dual monitor card with the same type of outputs, or is there a solution to this that won't cost me all my lunch money? Thanks in advance, Tom people.

They type of outputs should not have an effect as most modern graphics cards do have multiple types of outputs that all operate just fine.
However, if your grapics processor (GPU) is too weak to power two monitors, that may be causing you some issues. More information would need to be provided to propperly asses that issue mainly what CPU (main processor) you have and if you are using integrated (cables plug into the mainboard) or discrete (cables plug into a card located lower on the case) graphics.
