I have this PC http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

and I want to upgrade the CPU without upgrading the mobo. I can't figure out the socket size and if I do upgrade the CPU, would I need to upgrade the power supply?

I think you might be out of luck.

The E-450 is a mobility chip designed for laptops and I think that is the most powerful E Series processor that AMD made.

The slot type, I believe, is BGA413 for socket FT1.

You are free to do searches on BGA413 and FT1, but I don't think you will find a processor better than the E-450.

Okay thanks. Do you guys think it'll hold up Sony Vegas 10?
Since I can't upgrade, can I buy a new mobo w/ processor that'll fit that same case?

I haven't used Sony Vegas before, but iirc it is some pretty high end media stuff. I wouldn't expect the E-450 to run it very well at all.

Maybe others who have used the processor, the program, or both will have a better answer, though.

TBH, I don't think I would try to salvage much of anything from the current PC. I would try to sell it for a fair price and then buy completely new stuff.
