Okay, we'll I recently upgraded some of my computer parts which would be the mother board, CPU, ram, and gpu.I decided to keep my hard drives since I saw no reason to buy new ones, but after I had put everything together I could not run vista in normal mode so I had to go into safe mode to try to install all the drivers for my mobo and gpu. However whenever I would try to install the drivers for the mobo a box would pop up saying "open handle failure" or something very similar to that. I couldn't even get the drivers for the gpu to install! So I figured that vista was just having a tantrum from all this new hard ware ,so I downloaded Linux sabayon 9 off another computer and put it on a cd to see if I could at least get my computer to boot up from a cd (since I lost my original vista cd) but I found that My computer would read Linux on the cd but when ever I would click "start sabayon" it would freeze on a screen that was sometimes different colors but it was always a bunch of vertical lines going across my screen and I would have to restart the computer. So I caved in and bought windows 7, and switched out my main hard drive with the hard drive that was meant for storage(but I never really used it) And I tried to install windows 7 onto that hdd, but even with that setup windows 7 would just freeze at the "starting windows" page or end up freezing at a screen with those same damned vertical lines?? Anyone have any ideas what this problem could be??

If you haven't, you need to format the drive. Going from Intel to amd makes it a necessity; too many different video and board drivers that need to be cleaned up.
