Newbie Build

So my first ever forum post, just now figured out in life I need to be working on and building computers......Its like Im on crack right now....(sorry if that offends anyone) but Im hooked. Just wanted to get some back up and or suggestions on my first build that I have started on.

Intel DP67BG Extreme Series - MPN BOXDP67BGB3 mobo

Intel Core i5-3570k 3.4GHz 2nd Gen Ivy-Bridge ( will want to overclock eventually)

G.SKILL RIPJAWS X F3-1600C9D-16GXM 16GB 2x8GB DDR3 1600MHZ PC3-12800 CAS8 240pin

EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 02G-P3-1568-KR ( future possibility of SLI x2 with a new PSU )

HiPro 700w PSU

Western Digital VelociRaptor 300 GB, 10k RPM,3.5" (WD3000HLFS) ( x4 RAID future)

Asus BW-12B1ST 12x Internal SATA Blu Ray BD DVD Burner Writer Drive

Asus 245h monitor 1920x1080 ( thats all I need for now )

Well thats my list so far...Most of it I have purchased already from great deals I've found on the net for the past month. All of this will be in a old Alienware 7500 tower that I picked up pretty cheap and love the way it looks before Dell got their hands on the company. I have 3 120mm fans on the case and an 80mm fan for the HDD. Im modding it a little to add 1 more 120mm or a 140mm to the bottom of the case to get more cool air in there. Im looking to put a large air cooled CPU fan for now maybe looking to liquid cool in the future when I do another build.

I mainly am looking at only using this for gaming; BF3, Mass Effect 2 and 3, Crysis 2, SWTOR, SWU2......thats what I have.

Any well will I be able to play these games? All replies will be helpful.

More about newbie build
  1. That mobo will not work with your CPU unless you do a BIOS update with an existing SB CPU.
  2. thanks for the Info....

Flash BIOS/UEFI to revision 2076. 2111 is buggy and anything later (2161+) is coded for IvyBridge compatability, so you don't need it unless you buy the next gen CPUs. Intel is at 2185 update....

Am I on the right track on this build for my first time? How about the quality in the games?
  3. Yes, you are.
  4. Guess next time I have to go with a peppier name for the get more comments..

After debate on dealing with the BIOS change Im gonna replace the i5 3570k Ivy B...with a i5 2500k sb.... Looks like I will have a processor for my next build :)

Question that I still am out looking for is how will my game choices play out....I know the GTX 560ti 2gb is not the best I can get....but will it work in ultra settings or not....until I go SLI with a matched card?

Any comment on that will be helpful....Thanks all... :)
