The Maxwell architecture, the successor to Kepler, will have for the first time an integrated ARM CPU of its own (project Denver); allegedly this will make Maxwell GPU more independent from the main CPU. Maxwell was announced in September 2010 and is expected to be released in 2013 or later. Nvidia also mentioned the Einstein architecture, the alleged successor to Maxwell. Nvidia only revealed the name, as of April 2012 no further information is known about the Einstein architecture.

does it means that even gtx 780 beast of maxwell can be handled by i7 950 at stock clocks ?? or even older i7 processors ? or even i5 ???? GTX 780 will be roughly 20-25% faster then gtx 680... because all me know each generation is only 20-25% improvnet because of marketing ...

Hi

Actually we usually see more like a 70%+ increase from next gen architecture and as we don't have any performance figures for Maxwell, its impossible to say for sure if a stock i7 950 will keep up.
We'd also need info on what In-game settings and resolution you'd use and what games would be played...

70% ? you meant from fermi to kelper ? how so ? 680 is 70% faster then gtx 580 ? no ...

if you notice on nvidia site .. there is like 7k gpu score difference between each series ...

if compare 285 to 480 to 580 to 680 ... they have like 7k gpu score difference ^^ so gtx 780 will be 7k score higher then 680 ... or am i wrong ??

even kelper don't use cpu hard .. it uses himslef ....

look at that ^^

I didn't specify any particular Gen, I was just saying historically we've seen a 70%+ increase in performance most of the time.

For example HD4870 > HD5870 or GTX285 > GTX480 ETC...

You've also got to remember that some gen's are just small tweaks to previous architecture like from the GTX480 to the GTX580.

i forgot something ... maxwell will out 2013 or 2014 ????

because will be there better kelpers on 700 series like better fermi on 500 then on 400 ? or we will jump to maxwell instant ??

I think the original rumoured release date was 2013, but now seems to be 2014.

I would imagine that because of the major changes in Maxwell that the GTX780 won't be a tweaked version of the GTX680, rather a completely new architecture, that's my guess anyway, based on the little information we have.

true ... i just saw performance of gtx 480 .... even that card is beas for 200$ price... if comparre to 500$ gtx 680 ... is better bung for buck .... i just plan to get 480 for 200$ and safe myslef for 700 series ... but i have to wait like 1.5 year ?? no releses on early 2013 ? :( crap ....

I wouldn't worry about it too much, the GTX480 is still a very capable graphics card and like you said its excellent Price/performance.

Actually, in benchmarks the 680 is equal to a 590 and sometimes even surpasses it slightly. So the 680 is about 80-90% better than a 580. Just sayin'.

but then why 670 and 680s have drips like 30-35 fps in BF3 ??? sure they have btter average and max ... but wtf is this 35 dips ???? :((( will be they fixed with drivers ???

680 is equal to 590 ... agree 680 OC is equal to 590 as i know ... then 670 OC =680 and

670 OC > by 80% 580? :O

even on crysis 2 they have 40 fps dips .... why if they are 80% stringer ? Driver problem ?? it;s not sarcasm i really want to know :p

Not all cards have such dips, it's just some cases and yes it could be driver related. The cards I saw benchmarked were Gigabyte GTX 680, MSI GTX 670 and a reference GTX 590, I believe. None were overclocked. The 680 beat the 590 in Batman, Skyrim and one more which I don't remember. It was having dips in BF3 and Crysis 2 so there the winner was the GTX 590. The guy who was doing the benchmarks said that it was probably the drivers and that it will probably get fixed soon.

So I'd say that:
GTX 680 = GTX 590
GTX 670 = GTX 680 - 8%

Crysis and BF3 are troublesome to all cards, so it's pretty much impossible not to get dips on good settings. SLI configurations and dual-chip cards don't have that problem (unless you're using 3D surround). That's why the older gen doesn't have dips. But I'll bet that If you ran BF3 on ultra @ 2560x1600 with a GTX 690 it will demolish anything on the market at the moment.

Not in stock ?? You can get 670 easy

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&N=-1&isNodeId=1&Description=gtx670

IN YOUR COUNRTY GTX 670 WILL NOT ME ON STORES BEFORE AUGUST LOL :))

we have gtx 680 but it costs 670$ :))

so i decided to buy used gtx 480 for 190$ ^^

then i have to wait till maxwell or big kelper and will buy something better then gtx 680 ... i jsut wanted to know how good can by cpu handle gpus on stock clocks .... if gtx 780 will be only 15% faster then gtx 680 .. then i think no problem with that ... and it will hande even on stock clocks ... or am i wrong >???

Till Aug they are there now I helped my friend pick and install one from Fry's ... You are fine The high end cpu's say any CPU over 3ghz will have no issue with 780 I would bet but we don't know what featuses it will have Pcie-6 or 7 lol so you mobo might hold you ack more than your CPU...

Pcie-6 or 7 what ?

you meant pci 3.0 i guess... i have 2.0 16x ... but you know that 680 uses 6GT/s when 2.0 pic 16x has 8GT/s ..so even 680 can use full potencial of 16x 2.0 .. then i think maxwell will use up to 100% .... so i thin maxwell will ahve 8GT/s not more :)
