To add com port to windows 7

I attempted to install a relatively old flight simulation (FMS) in my computer with Windows 7. I get an "Ecom port error" message. I understang this is a issue of incomatibility and that I should add a com port to my windows 7. I don't know excatly how to do it. very much appreciate your help.
