Can the asus p8z77-v lx sli motherboard drive 3 monitors

Hi,
I am not a gamer. I am currently using 2 monitors on an 8800GT. However, I need to expand (if possible) to a third monitor. In effect, I want to open Word on one monitor, Excel on a second monitor & Cad on a third. Any advice please.

With Nvidia you will need to get either a newer card like the GTX680 that can support 3 monitors off of one card. Add another 8800GT, perhaps (not sure if the older cards can do 3 monitors in SLI). Or, you could get any of the AMD cards that support Eyefinity for 3 monitors off of one card.

Nvidias single GPU GTX cards prior to the 6xx series supported a maximum of two monitors. best choices:

Buy another used 8800 GT assuming your MoBo is SLI capable or a new 6xx series card

To run three monitors as the OP wants to use them for does not require SLi so simply adding a cheap 9500GT for the third monitor should suffice.

go into bios and turn on the lucid virtu, and you can use IGPU that's built in for FREE! i am running 3 screens 1 on board and two off Nvidia card
