Quest questions

Hi all,

Where can I ask quest related questions? Is there a forum specifically for
that somewhere, or is it alright if I ask inhere?

Oh, and another completely unrelated question: is a mineral node always of
the same type of metal? Or does that change ith my level/mining skill?

TIA

1) Quest questions are fine in this forum.

2) Mineral veins vary. If you've only been in the beginner's areas,
all you will see is copper though. Once you get to higher level areas
you will see other types: tin, iron, silver, gold, mithril, trusilver,
thorium.

Questions about quests are just dandy. Post 'em!

> Oh, and another completely unrelated question: is a mineral node always of

A given area will mostly have one type of mineral node, and maybe some
of the next higher type. For example, Westfall has mostly Copper nodes
with a few Tin thrown in, but Elwynn Forest, being a real newbie zone, has
only Copper. Higher-level zones have higher-skill nodes. Convenient!

There will be lots of fixed positions where the nodes can potentially
appear, with maybe a third of these positions actually containing a node
at any given time. Also, some node types can occasionally show up as an
alternate "rare" node. Iron nodes will sometimes spawn as Gold, for
example.

It's a newsgroup, not a forum. Any Warcraft (not even necesarily WoW)
question is fine.

Nodes are clearly labeled with what kind of metal they will yield. Your
mining skill only affects whether or not you can mine it at all. What the
node will yield is determined when the node spawns. Nothing about the miner
will change the yield.

Search for the name of the quest you are doing and you'll find everything
you need to know. It has maps too.

You can ask here, theres also a quest forum at
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.aspx?fn=wow-quests

Its the same, with the exception that some have "rare spanws", ie sometimes
a mithril will spawn as truesilver. (but never gold or iron etc). Mining
skill just determines what you can and cant mine. If your skill isnt high
enough it just wont let you mine that mineral. (eg you need 275 skill to
mine a rich thorum vein. I think tin requires 50 or 70 ish)

[1] He didn't say this was a forum.

[2] This is a forum in its original sense as well as...

[3]
forum

Download that and never have to look for another node again. It won't
automatically show you *all* the nodes, only the ones you mine or try to
mine. It works for mines, herbs and treasure.

That is, if you don't mind any spoilers. I tend to see this as my very
last resort. If I'm stuck on a quest, I ask first in guild chat and
most of the time this helps. They also know they don't have to spoil
the entire thing and will help you advance with as little information
as possible.

In that regard, if you have a question like that, feel free to post it in here!

How does thottbot spoil a quest?

All it does usually is repeat the quest dialog and provide links to where to
get the quest and where to go, you have to dig deep to spoil it for
yourself, like by clicking on every link of a series to find out what it
says about it.

Even the maps with locations of where to find things are pretty vague
sometimes!

That's exactly what I mean, in order to find what you want to know you
have to read too much information, and you get informed of all sorts of
things you don't want to know (in any case, I don't want to know...).
Especially the user comments section are basicly walkthroughs, even
though this is the section you'll most likely find the answer you are
looking for.

I don't say Thottbot is a bad thing. On the contrary, it is a great
effort, and helps in many ways, but everyone should know for themselves
how much help they really want with this game.

Yes, that seems to be the general consensus. Thanks guys.

The specific quest I had a problem with was the tome of divinity quest where
I have to find a dead guy and revive him, but the thotbott page helped me
with that (at least now I've seen a picture of where he is, haven't actually
logged on to find him yet :)

Ok, nice to know. thanks.

He clearly implied it.

Not in the webboard sense.

Board: WoW
Forum 1: Classes
Forum 2: Quests
Forum 3: PvP
etc, etc.

A 20% drop rate bad?

I've killed over 100-150 Withertusk Trolls without a single tusk, bag,
or knife. I am about 6 levels above them so don't get xp on each one I
dispatch. I've gone through all 3 or so villages, and I went
completely through the cave, twice. Not a single one of those quest
item dropped. (I did manage to score a lot of iron and mithril and I
got so much silk and such I had to go to Refuge Point to drop it all
off.) I just really wanted to complete the quest finally and was very
disappointed to learn I could not.

Is it possible that at a certain level disparity between quest and
quester that the quest items required no longer drop? (It's the case
where the items are already gotten, but I've never gotten a one of
them. My killing over 100 of them was my first encounter with them.
I'm thinking of inviting them to a picnic with me when it's all over.
Ogre Burgers should go over well.)

Who told you you couldn't?

Not in my experience.

Is it possible you collected the quest items many levels ago, and
stashed them in your bank? That would stop them from dropping.

Eh? This doesn't make sense. How can they be "already gotten" if
you've "never gotten a one of them"?
