Hi all,

another n00b question :)

What's the deal with guilds? What's the advantage of being in a guild,
except for being able to find and play with the same group of people?

Enlighten me, please.

That is one of the main benefits. There are others, such as loot sharing
and quest assistance.

And some people just like having a "family" to chat with and such whilst
they're playing.

It's easier to organize things that need lots of people. In the endgame,
that is most things that most people want to do (instance raids, raid
encounters, PVP raids, battlegrounds), so guilds become more important.

It's easier to level up if you are in a guild that emphasizes helping
lower-level characters. In a well-organized guild, all the gathering and
crafting professions are represented, and materials and crafted items
are easy to get because the guild supplies them free or at low cost to
members. If the guild emphasizes helping you level, then it's easy to
get knowledge and assistance. If you are having trouble with questing in
a hot PVP area, guildmates can party with you to make it easier.

One guild that one of my characters is in actually gives out money
rewards for achieving certain levels.

Other good points: You get a tabbard! ( if the GM makes and purchases one)
also, you don't have everybody bugging you to join their guild since your
already in one ;)
