Pcie 2.1 6850 GPU in pcie 2.0 M3n78 Pro mobo

Hello,
I've been tryng all day to get my Asus M3N78 Pro mobo recognise an brand new xfx HD6850 pcie 2.1 graphics card. I have flashed the latest version of the Bios fom the ASUS site, but in the end have had to go back to a 5450 GPU. Has anyone got a 2.1 spec GPU running on a M3N78 Pro or can suggest where i've gone wrong?

- No signal to monitor from 6850
- PC boots fine, but need to use HDMI from mobo to monitor
- just checked PowerColor website and yes, the 5450 2GB card i have is PCIe 2.1 - so mobo must support 2.1
- Yes, 6 pin power cable was attached to 6850 - loud fan going full bore!
- Couldn't instal drivers - no compatible device found...
- PSU is a Corsair VX550W

Thinking i might try again but run 'Driver Sweeper' before i instal the 6850 - otherwise i think the 6850 is DOA

Any other suggestion appreciated!

Unistalled all AMD software (had to repair it before uninstal), reboot, removed card, reboot, ran driver sweeper, reboot, installed card, reboot, installed AMD Catalyst and all is well now finally - thanks for the help!

I have the same problem, i don`t have amd software i`m having the same issue, ran driver sweeper nothing came up for AMD software.
