Will a Q9550 CPU work with my P5N-E SLI Motherboard?

Kinda a noob question here. Yeh i know its old but im on a budget and this is probably the best i can get atm. I was thinking of upgrading from my dual core to a q9550. I've read a lot and i've been getting mixed responses. Some are saying that it wont work because my mobos a 65nm and the cpus a 45 nm but some are saying that it does work for them. I've got the latest 1406 bios update. Please help and if any further information is needed just ask, thanks

According to the CPU list for the board, only the Q6xxx C2Q are supported. So, you could try a Q9550, but there's a decent chance that the BIOS won't recognize the CPU microcode and refuse to boot.

If you're on a budget, and can't really risk buying a CPU only to find it doesn't work, then I would recommend sticking to one of the C2Q's on the supported CPU list.

The changelog for the 1406 revision involves resolving a boot delay with specific AMD video cards, nothing is said about added CPU support. So again, if you're looking for a sure thing with a C2Q, I'd pick one of those on the list. Those are guaranteed to be compatible with the board, the Q9550 is not.
