Hey guys, first post here :)
I'm planning to to build my first ever gaming rig and just wanted to ask what CPU is better?
Im on a budget build, im gonna be selling my 2011 mac mini and whatever i get from the sale will go towards my gaming build.
I'm planning to buy a second hand AMD Phenom II x6 1055t and would like some feedbacks.
any suggestions would be very very nice! thanks! :D

Hmm is there a site where i can check out local pricing? Te 0iix6 is good and all but at arround 130 CAD, i can pick up a FX6300 which saves more power and performs better in games.

Fyi the FX6300 is the new gen of FX chips and fixes a lot of the old gen's issue. The iix6 seems a bit pricey (not sure how much new cpus cost in NZ)

Looked through http://www.ascent.co.nz/category.aspx?majorcatID=14 and
http://www.elive.co.nz/cpu-processors.php
And realized how expensive parts are for you guys. One issue with the 1055t is that in dual or even quad threaded games it will not perform that well. That said, it ahould be fine for most games except the more danding ones. The processor also has no heatsink with it so you need to buy one so factoring that it it'll cost about at least 200NZD. This makes the FX4300 or even the FX6300 a lot more attractive options for + 20-30 NZD.
I would recomend grabbing those instead since the piix6 was also overclocked so its lifespan maybe negatively impacted.

I think that's a decent price but not amazing for a second hand piece. The description does make me wonder the kind of treatment its had, as he seems to know well what kind of oc it can do, and the fact it had decent ram and NB oc does suggest the core was oced too.
The x6 is a strong chip, but if I were you I would get a new i3 3220 for $165 so you would have security from failure

edit: AlphaCity is a reputable site, I've used them several times

An i3 3220? Might as well get a x4 965 BE.

I say get the fx 6300.

It costs about $20 more for an AM3+ mobo compared to a 1155, assuming you don't want an nForce chipset.

Here is a website that I might be buying SOME of my parts for the build - www.pbtech.co.nz
Would appreciate it if you guys could reccomend a good gaming rig for maybe under $800 or a tiny little bit over $800NZD including GST. thanks!
