Is this a worthwhile build?

Hello!

I've been a lurker of the Tom's forums for a long time and decided to finally make an account to post on the forums because I have some questions.

I'm a PC gamer and feel like I am in need of an all-around upgrade, however, I would like some advice/opinions on how much of a boost I will see and benefit from with the new build I have in mind. Also, is this very cost-effective right now?

Current rig:

Core 2 Duo E7300 OC'd to 3.2GHZ, GTX 460 768MB, Asus p5QL Pro mobo, 4GB DDR2, 7200 HDD.

Prospective build:

i5 3570K, GTX 460 (keeping same card), Asus p8z77 LK, 8GB DDR3 1600 Corsair Vengeance, OCZ Vertex 3 120GB

My new build, plus antec eleven hundred case and cooler are coming in at about $688 (tax included). When it comes to technology, I know this is not expensive at all, however, as a student with a lot of debt to pay off, I gotta make every penny count :)

Games I play are DayZ (so Arma 2 and prob Arma 3 when it launches), and Guild Wars 2. Also, I would like to be prepared for games that launch in the near future.

I've seen that board a few times and feel that ASRock is getting good reviews, but I am still a bit weary. Any experience with their RMA? Also, not sure what you mean by your last sentence regarding the RAM. The 8GB corsair vengeance I mentioned is probably the cheapest thing in my build at $45.99

You weren't seeing things; I made a mistake and put 4GB and edited it to show the 8GB :p.

Also I'm a fan of Asus as well and have used them for my past 3 mobo's.

Unfortunately I don't :( I live in Canada so have to rely on Newegg.ca, NCIX.com and Canadacomputers.com

That is an awesome deal though; wish I could get it.

Small world, haha. Yea I love CC. Trouble is, with price match from NCIX at $219 for that CPU as well as p8z77 LK being $124.99 from CC, that bundle is a lot more expensive.
