Confused about Dual, Tri, Quad Crossfire

im so confused...
i checked the Crossfire/SLI FAQ,
and nothing is there...

what does it mean by dual Crossfire?

means 2 GPUs?

so Tri means 3 GPUs?

Quad???
My Asus P8Z77-V only has 3 PCIe 2.0 ports...
so i guess the $400 Mobos have 4 PCIe ports?

The Quad applies to the use of 2xDouble Chips cards like 2x690 or 2x590 for nVidia. For AMD, its 2x6990. So while there are only 2 physical cards, there are 4 graphics chips working together as quad.

so i have a Asus P8Z77 and i have a Radeon HD6950, so if i add one more to crossfire.
it till be called a Quad Crossfire?

No. Because the HD6950 is just a single chip card. It will just be "crossfire".
