Hello,
PHoToS999 here. I was wanting to upgrade my processor in my Toshiba Satellite C655-S5515 which utilizes the E-300 with Radeon™ HD 6310 processor.
Is it possible to upgrade that one to a AMD Phenom™ II Quad-Core Mobile Processor P920?

Thanks!

No, they use different sockets, they use different techniques to connect to the motherboard and the BIOS won't support older CPUs.

The P920 uses socket S1 (PGA638) and the E-300 uses socket FT1 (BGA413).

The best you can do is get a better laptop or build a desktop.

Also the GPU is on the same die as the CPU so there would be no graphics with the P620.

The e300 is a zocat cpu. There are also an e350 and e450. The e450 should be a direct swap but as Brett said above. Check with toshiba as they can lock the bios to only accept certain cpu's.

I have done a few CPU upgrades on servers and doubling CPU speed only increased overall speed by maybe 20% because all the other parts in the system aren't any faster. A motherboard swap with new memory and new internal power supply might work but I doubt it will be possible to find parts that will fit. If you could find the necessary components they would probably cost more than a new machine anyway.

Well, come to find out, it's actually not replaceable. Thanks for all the replies though! I'm just going to replace my RAM since it sounds like that'll do the trick for speeding up my laptop.
