:hello: I connected my HTPC to a new receiver I bought, but the resolution went from 1366x768 to 1280x720 on the TV for some reason. These are my HTPC specs:

Case: SilverStone GD05
Mobo: MSI G41M4
CPU: Q6600
GPU: Radeon HD 5570
RAM: 4GB Patriot Viper
PSU: SeaSonic M12II 520w

Connected to this receiver (Yamaha YHT-497): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007PU2Y4S/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00

My TV is a Samsung UN32D4000NDXZA: http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/UN32D4000NDXZA

The native resolution is 1366x768 and displayed fine when connecting directly from the video card to the TV with HDMI, but after hooking it up to the receiver it now recommends 1280x720. Even at 1280x720 I had to adjust the underscale/overscale so it would fit the screen, but the letters and images seem extremely grainy. When I put the resolution on 1366x768, it doesn't let me scale the image to fit my screen.

All my drivers are up to date and I'm pretty sure everything is connected correctly. I've tried messing with other options on the receiver, television, and htpc but I don't seem to be getting anywhere. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Are you using the same HDMI port on the TV for comparison? Reason I ask is because I have a 26" Samsung in my bedroom and if I connect the HTPC to one of the HDMI ports, it does exactly what you described and tries to force 720p. Forcing to 1366x768 looks awful. When connected to a different HDMI port on the TV, it uses the correct 1366x768 rez and looks much sharper.

Also, try to go into the menu and change the source name to "PC" for the HDMI input you are using for the HTPC. I've read that this can make a difference but I cannot confirm. Something to do with the TV expecting a "computer" rez like 1366x768 rather than a "video" rez of 720p. For my own TV, the second HDMI that I used is named "PC".

Hey thanks for the response and link. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to matter which HDMI port I plug it into, it still forces the image to 1280x720. I tried renaming each HDMI port to PC, but it does not change the image at all. When I plug it into the first HDMI slot, HDMI 1/DVI, I get no image whatsoever.

When I connect the HTPC directly to the TV without using the receiver, it displays the correct resolution every time, but using this receiver seems to be screwing up the resolution. Maybe there's some setting on the receiver that I'm missing? I went through all the options on the receiver but there doesn't really seem to be any option for changing the output.
