VGA and DVI Confusion

Please help me out! Here's the setup:

• My GPU has DVI outputs
• My monitor has both VGA and DVI outputs

Which will give a better graphics quality?

GPU (DVI) ---> DVI to VGA cable ---> monitor (VGA)
-or-
GPU (DVI) ---> DVI to DVI cable ---> monitor (DVI)

Or will they give the same graphics quality? Because right now, I only have a DVI to VGA cable. I'm considering buying a DVI to DVI cable if you guys recommend it. Thank you!

DVI is superior to VGA, and allows for high definition content protection (HDCP, needed for high definition movie playback).

Screen quality is usually better with HDMI or DVI.

Oh! So that means I should get a DVI to DVI cable. I've been using a DVI to VGA all this time. Thank you!
