:hello:
So I was wondering if this Ultrabook is good enough to play most games such as Skyrim, Deus Ex, GTA 4 etc. at low-medium.

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/asus-asus-14-1-3rd-gen-intel-core-i5-3317u-windows-8-ultrabook-s46cm-fh51-cb-black-s46cm-fh51-cb/10227470.aspx?path=a686fbf689f950d54e01bd0c7559f266en02

Intel Core i5-3317U 2.6GHz 3MB L2 Cache
24GB SSD 750GB HDD
6GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
nVidia Gefore GT 635M 2GB

Is Windows 8 better than 7 for gaming?

Is it good enough? And are ASUS Laptops good compared to ACER and HP? And is it worth it at $780? Thanks in advance. :) Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I'm new around here.

Well, I can only get Windows 8 from my store, unless I buy a seperate windows 7 disk, which will cost me more. And yea, the resolution is 1366x768, and I feel comfortable with 30+ fps. So it's good enough, or should I look for something better?
BTW I'm not looking for a gaming only laptop. I'm getting it for school, but obviously I would want to play some games too.

Well, my dad would get me a laptop only from FutureShop, and so all that I can see under 1 grand is this. I don't mind getting something else other than an ultrabook. And BTW, is intel hd 4000 better?

Generally speaking, if you are looking to buy a laptop for games I always recommend spending about $100 above your budget for a better graphics card. Only specific gaming laptop models costing at least $1,500+ allows you to upgrade the graphics. Those MXM graphic modules are both expensive and hard to find.

Spending that extra $100 or so can postpone buying a new laptop by 1 or 2 year depending on how high your expectations are for new games that are likely to have higher system requirements. I would bump up to that least the nVidia GT 635; skip the GT 640 LE which I believe is actually slower. The GT 635 is comparable to the older GT 555m while the GT 640 LE is closer to the GT 550m.

Stepping up to the GT 650m would be ideal. I should not be too expensive and on a 1366x768 resolution screen you should be able to play some games on high now and medium in the future.

Well, really I play old games, like CSS and TF2, those are the games that I really play. I know that I won't really buy new games because I just play those on PS3, so I'm looking for one that has decent graphics that can play some PC exclusive games.
