As the owner of a new computer with Win7 installed, am I allowed (as far as MS license is concerned) to use the XP mode VHD on a virtual machine manager other than Windows Virtual PC running on the same computer. I don't mean having two virtual machines setup, just one. I think having more than one virtual machine running would not be legit. I don't want to use the supplied Windows Virtual PC software.

For example, I wish to use VirtualBox on the same computer to run the supplied VHD. Will I be asked to activate the XP mode virtual install and would it be accepted by MS for activation? I am assuming it does not matter which alternative virtual machine manager I use. Am I correct in my assumption? Or would I get different results if I used VMware Player?

Update
- Most online advice seems to agree that it's ok to run XP mode on a virtual machine manager other than Windows Virtual PC as far as the license is concerned.
- VMware Player has an easy import function built-in for XP mode. Once imported and setup in VMware Player, you are not asked to activate the XP mode again.
- Sadly, VirtualBox 4.1.8 does not have an import function like VMware Player does. If you attempt to use the XP mode VHD in VirtualBox, you are asked to activate the XP mode again. Problem is that the product key supplied in XP mode is not accepted when activating online. Don't know if it will be activated via the phone. Doubt it as it seems that the product key is tied in to a particular string in the BIOS of whichever virtual machine you choose to run it on.
