Relevant Info:

Motherboard: Biostar Tz77xe3
CPU: Core i5 2300 @ 2.8Ghz (28x100)

My processor will only boot windows if:

Fixed CPU ratio: Enabled

Fsb at 100 (it displays 95, but its working at 100x)

Also, the fsb displays at 100x! It displays an fsb of 95 as 9500!

I cannot get any fsb's other than 100 or 95

I bought the processor used... so I dont know... WHATS WRONG WITH IT?

Also, my GTX 460 is doing a nice job of getting hot... to Diablo 3? What is this mockery?

that model is locked to begin with xD it needs the designated K at the end of the model to indicate an unlocked multiplier. Also, 460 is OLD. Diablo 3 is probably too much for it - try to get a 650/650ti.

The 650 is ugly, and slow, and cant SLI

I'm getting a second 460, and I'll be fine..

And you can play with the multiplier on the non K's, you can't get any lower than 26x or any higher than 34x on a non K 2300.

Also, thats not the point, the problem is it wont boot with an unlocked CPU ratio (Where it slows down the processor during idle to conserve power)

I don't know - 460s are old, if you don't like the 650, 660 and 660ti's are fine too. As for your processor, you're 100% its not the board? I mean its possible it could be the CPU but I doubt it.

I've swapped 3 motherboards, I'm positive the CPU is what it is.

460 SLI looks cool in the case, and is faster than a stock 660ti.

I'm glad the 6xx series is bringing back the sexy shroud design though.

Read my post, I edited it, also DAMN thats a nice price!
EDIT: Reading about how its not supposed to be overclockable, I'm assuming what the 2300 is is a 2500K with something onboard damaged, and that its just underclocked.

Its not really OC that bothers me. Its just that the core multiplier HAS to be fixed for the system to run, and the bios likes to enable that process all the time, freaking me out that something died, when everythings fine.

GTX460 crunches D3 for breakfast at 50-70% utilization... Something's wrong with your card's cooler.

Took a screenshot in Rakkis Crossing since it's the laggiest area in the whole game since 1.0.4. My 460 is severely overclocked too.

About CPU overclocking, 2nd and 3rd generation i3/5/7 (Sandy/Ivy Bridge) don't allow tampering with bclk, atleast not over 5MHz.
