CPU: Intel i5 3570k
Heat Sink: Thermaltake Contac 30 Direct Contact Heatpipe Heatsink LGA2011/1366/1156/1155 FM1/AM3/AM2+ 120MM Fan
Motherboard: Gigabyte z77x-ud5h
Memory: Corsair XMS CMX4GX3M1A1333C9 4GB 1X4GB DDR3-1333 CL9-9-9-24 DIMM Memory Module
Hardrive: 120GB Mushkin Chronos SSD
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 560 SE Fermi 776MHZ 1GB 3828MHZ GDDR5 SLI DVI Mini-HDMI HDCP PCI-E DX11 Video Card
PSU: Coolermaster GX 750W 80+ Power Supply SLI ATX12V V2.31 24PIN Active PFC PCI-E 120MM Fan
Chasis: Thermaltake Commander ATX Mid Tower Case 3X5.25 1X3.5 5X3.5INT No PS

I am using a 24x lightscribe dvd rw drive, a 500GB barracuda HDD, 250 Hitachi HDD, 4Gb of kinston hyper X ram, and a 7.1 Sound blaster live! sound card from my old system.

I am going to buy more fans, and another gpu later on. This pc will be usually used for gaming and school work, with the occasional light video/photo editing. Already have an os. Would like feedback

I am also looking to overclock this thing, if anyone can point me in the right direction as im only mildy familiar with overclocking. Any reply will be greaatly appreciated.

And thank you for that, i will make some alterations on the system. Im going to water cool this pc eventually. I may just not buy a gpu as i may be getting a 7970 for my bday. I also am looking at getting a 1000W (with the freed up cash from a gpu) power supply and eventually crossfiring 2 7970s. I am looking at getting 2 sticks of vengence ram 4Gb and one 4Gb hyper X ram. Which would give me cool looking 16 gb of ram. (which home premium supports, only bought it for the 15$ upgrade to windows 8).

1000w is excessive. The days of GTX 580's are gone. The 7970 with an OC'd CPU at most would only need an 850w. The TDP for a 7970 is only 190w, tack on another 190w and 175w-ish for an OC'd 4.6ghz+ i5 3570K and maybe 50w for the system you're only looking at 605w. So a 750w or 850w at most.

Also for what you listed, Editing is the least important. 16GB is also a waste of money. 8GB is fine for even me and I'd say for me it'd go Video/Photo editing > Gaming.

If she does that and you should just tell her to keep the GTX 570 and you wait for the 7970. That way you save money instead of buying a card when it's not needed for her. If you get what I mean.
