Hello,
I want to do hardcore gaming.I have an intel core two duo e8400 3ghz and a GeForce 9800 gt graphics card.Should I buy an fx 8350 or an i7 or i5?I will also buy probably an ati radeon hd 8850 or 8870 when it comes out in 2013 for 3d gaming.I will spend up to 270 euros for gpu and 350 for CPU(including mobo and ram)I am not much interested in overclocking but I want my CPU to be 4ghz.

Since your going to switch to a new platform and that requires a new motherboard just switch to a Z77 motherboard and an i5 3570k. Very few games benefit from hyperthreading (which the i7 has) and if they do the difference is not really justifiable for the price difference of the i5 and i7.

Umm...can't say which one to go for since I have no idea about how much better they are from the HD 7850/70. Either way they should be better but you could just opt for the 7870 when the price drops with the release of the 8k series.

Though I am certain the HD 8870 will be best card compared to the 8850, 7850, and 7870.

What is hyper threading and it won't effect gaming?

The core i7 is unique because it has two threads per core. The i5 has one thread per core. The hyperthreading becomes useful in multi-threaded applications but gaming is not one that emphasized hyperthreading yet. The FX-8350 has a "variant" of hyperthreading as well.
